In today's lab, you will be making the world's hottest burning chemical reaction: thermite! This red/ox reaction is fueled by a simple mixture of rust and aluminum powder. You'll use stoichiometry to determine the exact amounts of each substance, measure them out, and ignite it at the top of our "volcano of doom". Using your more recent understanding of red/ox, we'll be able to explain what is occuring to produce all of this heat!
